Happy Father's Day!!!

Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there that are holding it down for their children, families and community! God bless you! You are the ones I celebrate with my poetry! You go boy!!! Enjoy your day and let your families spoil you, you deserve it!

I was out at Independence Park all day yesterday for Charlotte's annual celebration of Juneteenth and man did I have a ball! Just me, myself and I, hanging out, dancing to the drums and enjoying the local talent. God blessed us with beautiful weather so folk were out looking good and having a great time. Standing under the open sky, listening to the drums; I was transported back home to Motherland Africa. I coudn't help but wonder what it was and is still like at home. One day, God's will, I plan to visit Africa. Have you been? Bet it's amazing if you have huh?

Well today is my day to celebrate the brothas as I recite my poetry on the mainstage for Juneteenth. What a blessing to be a part of a continued effort to recognize our freedom from bondage and slavery. Some might argue we are still slaves in one form or another, but today I am not going there. Today is a day of celebration. I choose to celebrate Father's Day and acknowledge the freedom my ancestors experienced hundreds of years ago one day in June.

Peace and blessings,
Until next time,
M
