Ok, so it's been a minute since I've updated my blog. And I have a true fan who keeps reminding me that I need to get on the ball. So thank you Jesse for keeping me on my toes, I do appreciate you:) Nothing like a good friend to gently remind you when you're falling short.
So what's been happening with Marina? Lots! Where do I start?
I had the distinct honor of hearing and meeting the Marian Anderson String Quartet yesterday, and I am here to tell you if you have not heard these four ladies play, you must catch them when they are in your town. I have never heard Chamber music sound so good! And they are amazingly friendly and personable. I gave Prudence, the celloist a copy of my CD and book and she hinted that we might be able to do something together! How's that for innovation!
Also, I will be going to Greensboro this weekend to perform at Bennett College for a Jena 6 fundraiser. I am so honored to be performing there and can't wait to do my thang for such a worthy cause! After that I will be heading to Atlanta where I will be supporting the Micheal Baisden function at the Civic Center.
I submitted a proposal for a grant and notifications will go out the end of this month so send a prayer up for your girl. Let's just say when I get it, I will be bringing a performance to Charlotte unlike this town has ever seen before!
On December 15, a friend and I will be hosting "Can We Talk 4 A Minute, an open and candid dialogue between sistas and brothas. This is going to be hot y'all! The location is being kept a secret cause its an RSVP event and you know how some folk don't know how to follow directions:) they just show up! I will be sending out email blasts in the next few days, so stay tuned.
See there, I told you I had lots happening! I am in the process of building a myspace page and it's coming along great. Go check it out when you get a chance and add me as your friend:) I am not "myspace" savvy so I can't tell you how to get there, but I'm sure if you search by my email address (poetry@marinathepoet.com)or marinathepoet, you're bound to find me out there somewhere!
Gotta go! Now you can stop fussing at me Jesse:) Thanks for keeping a sista on her toes: Love ya!
Until next time,
take care of yourself and one another,
Peace and Blessings
M
